No Warning Farm

Wild Things

We spent Tuesday night at the Farm; it's my current routine to work there Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but Phil joined me this time after making a trip to the building permit office in Shelton to move our barn home project forward. It had started out as a miserably wet and cold day, but with the positive feedback from the permit people and a bright turn in the weather, our mood changed. While Phil walked around the property, I made appetizers and received a call from him to say he'd suddenly come upon the elk herd emerging from the forest. I could see them from the bedroom window of our Airstream, but I couldn't see Phil, and when I didn't hear from him again for a while and he failed to pick up on my calls, I grew concerned that they had taken him out. But he had a plan for confusing them if not fighting them off; he held up his cell phone and played video of howler monkeys from our recent trip to Belize.
