No Warning Farm

Remote

For now, we have to commute to the Farm from Seattle. There are two ways to get there, the fastest being the least pleasant, driving down I-5 to Olympia, then north on Highway 101 past Shelton. The longer, but more relaxing route is to take the one hour ferry to the Naval shipyard town of Bremerton, stop at Saboteur Bakery to pick up whatever perfect pastries are offered that day, and drive an hour on Highway 3, then 106, along the always breathtaking Hood Canal. For now, almost all of the physical work on the Farm is born by one family while the rest of us pitch in sporadically and hold "High Tunnel Raising" events where the paycheck is a pizza party around our wood-fired oven. Fortunately, our tagline is not "Making a Profit," but is the more achievable, "Growing Good Food, Sustaining the Land, Building Community." And in pursuit of that last goal, we've added the "Another Bite" page on our website, where we are posing offbeat food questions and hoping for comment from readers and customers, a way for me to contribute remotely, conducting some stealth market research.
